South Kashmir areas shut to mourn Shopian killings

SRINAGAR: A complete shutdown is being observed in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Tuesday where four civilians and two militants were killed in force’s action on Sunday evening.
Reports of spontaneous shutdown have also been received from Pulwama district, the nearest to Shopian. A JeM militant was killed in Lethpora area of the district last evening.
Anantnag and Kulgam districts are also observing a partial shutdown to mourn the killings of four civilians in Pahnoo village of Shopian.
Reports suggest that shops and business establishments are closed while public transport is off the roads in maximum parts of south Kashmir though no pro-freedom leader has called for any shutdown.
Army killed four unarmed civilians namely Suhail Ahmad Wagay of Pinjora, Shahid Khan of Malik Gund, Shahnawaz Wagay of Langandora Trenze and Gowhar Ahmad Mir of Molu Dangerpora, Shopian apart from two militants Amir Ahmed Malik of Harmain and Ashiq Ahmad of Rakpora in Shopian.
