Violent protests in Kangan against R&b over non-clearance of snow

Scores of residents of Akhal Kangan in Ganderbal district staged a protest against R&B Department in Main Chowk Kangan, for not clearing snow from the road leading to their village, which forced them to carry a terminally ill woman on a cot from their village to Tehsil head quarter Kangan.
According to reports, due to the non-clearance of snow from the link road leading to Akhal, the villagers had failed to shift a lady suffering from cancer to the hospital for therapy session, they were forced to carry her on a cot to tehsil head quarter Kangan, where they protested outside R&b office.
The protest turned into scuffle between the officials of the department and protestors, while both sides accused each other for assault.
When the news about the situation reached to Tehsildar Kangan, he arrived at the spot and along with police officials pacified the protestors and motivated them to end their protest, while assuring them to provide an ambulance for the patient.
When the Tehsildar in question contacted BMO Kangan, he was not present in his office, but the senior doctor on duty arranged for the ambulance and the patient was shifted to the hospital.
Meanwhile Assistant Executive Engineer R&B Kangan Sheikh Javed said that the violent protestors allegedly assaulted his staff including a Junior Engineer Shakil Ahmed.
He said that the department has lodged a complaint with police station Kangan, against the violent protestors, demanding a stern action against those involved in the assault on government officials on duty.
