Restrictions imposed in Kangan, internet services suspended
GANDERBAL: Restrictions continued in Kangan on Wednesday to thwart any protests, a day after injured youth succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS, Soura.
Large contingent of police and paramilitary CRPF have been deployed on roads and all the entry and exit points of the town in Ganderbal district and roads have been blocked with concertina wires and other barricades “to thwart any protests” in the area.
Pertinently, Gowher Ahmad who was injured during police action in Kangan on Monday succumbed on Tuesday
Gowhar was laid to rest early today at Martyrs graveyard at Kangan after police and civil district administration accepted demands of locals to register FIR against police cop, identified as Gulzar Ahmad, ordering of magisterial probe into the killing of Gowhar, release of youth arrested during clashes in Kangan and paying compensation to Gowhar’s family.
Officials said that a meeting was held with the family members of the deceased and elders of the area last night during which the said demands were put forth by them. The demands were met today after which the family agreed to bury the body of Gowhar.
Meanwhile, authorities have snapped mobile internet services in Ganderbal district.
