Slain militant duo laid to rest amid massive pro-freedom processions in Shopain

SHOPIAN: The slain militant duo was on Tuesday afternoon laid to rest in their respective villages amid massive funerals.
Witnesses said that thousands of people marched to Safnagri and Awneera villages of Shopian district where the slain militants were laid to rest.
They said that three rounds of funeral prayers were held for slain Amir while thousands of people from Shopian, Islamabad and Kulgam districts participated.
“Amir was laid to rest at local Martyrs graveyard at Awneera village,” they said.
The funeral procession of Amir was also addressed telephonically by octogenarian Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani.
Meanwhile, thousands bid farewell to army soldier turned militant, Idrees Ahmad of Safnagri village in the south Kashmir district.
Idrees, witnesses said, was laid to rest amid massive pro-freedom and anti-India slogans at local Martyrs graveyard in the village.
Idrees, sources said, was active with Hizb since April 15 2018 while Amir was active since May 23 2018. Idrees before joining the militant ranks was a territorial army officer for two years.
