Second IED recovered in Srinagar outskirts within hours
SRINAGAR: Government forces on Sunday detected an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants in Maloora area on the outskirts of summer capital Srinagar, said an official.
He said that the IED was detected by a patrolling party on a roadside in Maloora. “A bomb disposal squad has reached the spot,” he said.
Pertinently, an IED weighing nearly five kilograms was defused yesterday in the adjacent HMT area.
Last week, Kashmir police chief Muneer Khan had told reporters that IEDs was a new challenge to the forces. His remark came after four policemen were killed in an IED explosion in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
