Muncipal Committee Ganderbal launches anti-polythene drive
Municipal Committee Ganderbal (MCG) on Thrusday launched drive against the polythene carry bags in Ganderbal town.
On the instructions of Executive Officer Abdul Ahad Mir, the team of Municipal Committee Ganderbal launches the drive against use of polythene carry bags and allied material.
During the drive, enforcement wing inspected the shops and other outlets and seized 20 kg’s of polythene carry bags also imposed 500 rupees as fine in market of Ganderbal.
Executive officer stressed that awareness should be created among the masses about the negative impact of plastic bags on the environment.
He said that such drives will continue in future as well.
A local resident of Beehama said that the civic authorities need to conduct such drives regularly if they want to rid the city of plastic carry bags. “Such campaigns should be regularly held against vendors and retailers and violators should be penalized,” the local said.
Meanwhile Chairman Muncipal Committee Ganderbal Adv Altaf told Valley Online that these drives will continue but the most important is the cooperation from society.
He said that people should themselves say “No To Polythene” as they are also part of this society.
