Mughal road gets Season’s First Snowfall

SHOPIAN:Historic Mughal Road and its surrounding areas of Pir Panchal range recorded the season’s first snowfall today dipping the day and night temperature sharply.
The snowfall began around late last night and by the Wednesday morning it had accumulated to 2 to 3 inch depth.
The snow depth in upper reaches of pir panchal was not known immediately.
Light rainfall was recorded in Planes of District shopian.
Seasons first snowfall provide an opportunity for tourists to enjoy seasons first snowfall in peer-ki-gali tourist spot on the Mughal road..
It also put an end to the dry weather wave in Kashmir.
Due to snowfall followed by snow clearance operation by authorities all types of traffic movement was suspended temporally on the road.
Following snowfall drivers plying with different vehicles had to face tough times due to shivering cold along the Mughal road.
With the fall in day temperature, people across the valley have started putting on warm clothes.
ARTO shopain Er,Abdul Majid after thorough look on the Mughal road following snowfall had to suspend traffic movement temporarily and assured to resume traffic once road clearance reports are received.
He advised people to contact concerned departments before travelling on Mughal road during winters ahead.
