Mega Kissan Mela held at Ganderbal
GANDERBAL: Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal inaugurated a Mega Kissan mela at Ganderbal organised by Department of Agriculture Ganderbal under centrally Sponsored Scheme Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) here today.
During the day long mela, ADDC Ganderbal was accompanied with ADC Ganderbal, Naseer Ahmad Wani, Joint Director Agriculture Kashmir Choudhary mohd Iqbal, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Agriculture Officer and other sectoral officers of the district.
Around 1000 Farmers from nook and corner of the district participated in the day long Kissan Mela which were appraised with different modern agriculture techniques during the Kissan Mela.
ADDC along with Joint Director Agriculture Kashmir inspected the stalls erected by the department and allied sectors and interacted with the participating farmers to get the feedback of various schemes. The stalls exhibited high yielding hybrid plant saplings, seed varieties and latest machinery for various farming related activities.
Scientists from KVK Ganderbal and officers from department of Agriculture shared with the participating farmers information about modern techniques to be adopted in agriculture, Mushroom Cultivation, Apiculture, Kitchen gardening and poultry rearing besides farmers were also given knowledge of different Centrally Sponsored Schemes in vogue in agriculture sector and different incentives available to them under these schemes.
ADDC, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion urged the farmers to avail the benefits of various flagship programmes and schemes in agriculture sector. He appealed all the participating farmers to come forward to avail and adopt the technical knowledge which is being provided to them by the department through qualified agriculture technocrats besides using high yielding crop and plant varieties for rich dividends.
Urging upon the farmers to avail the benefits of various flagship programmes and schemes in agriculture, ADDC said that government schemes in agriculture sector are intended at doubling the farmers’ income and provide economic security against natural calamities.
Later, ADDC distributed certificates among the progressive farmers for their active role in agriculture activities.
