Five civilians killed in cross LoC firing in Poonch
JAMMU: Five civilians were killed on Sunday in cross border firing between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.
“The Pakistan Army resorted to indiscriminate shelling in Mendhar sector of the LoC. A shell fell on a house killing five members of the same family,” police said.
Jammu and Kashmir Directorate General of Police SP Vaid told ANI, “Due to shelling from across in Balakote sector of Poonch, five civilians lost their lives. Two others, who were injured, have been shifted to the hospital.”
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Ramzan, Malka Bi, Faizan, Rizwan and Mehreen.
Pertinently, after every such incident along the LoC or International border, both India and Pakistan accuse each other of violating the ceasefire which is in place since 2003.
