FIRs against drivers for overloading passengers in Rajouri
Jammu: The police has registered 11 FIRs against drivers for severe overloading in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, police said on Tuesday.
A police team seized nine vehicles and fined 59 others, a senior police official said.
“Intensifying drive against traffic norms violation with main focus to check the problem of overloading of passengers, the Rajouri Police yesterday booked drivers of 11 vehicles for severe overloading and also seized nine vehicles and fined fifty nine others,” he said.
The police station team seized a vehicle in Budhal area and regustered a case for overloading of passengers, he said.
They intercepted a minibus and tempo and registered cases under relevant sections in Kandi belt, he said.
“Similarly drivers of three buses have been booked for heavy overloading of passengers and putting lives at risk,” the official said.
Three FIRs have been registered in police station Kalakote and cases under relevant sections have been registered in the Kalakote police station, the official said.
Along with the registration of FIRs, two vehicles have been seized at Thanamandi and seven at Darhal, he added.
The drive was started 10 days ago on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri Yougal Manhas, the official said.
