DDC G’bal unfurls the National Flag on 70th R-Day
GANDERBAL: District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla unfurled the National Flag to the tune of National Anthem at the 70th Republic Day function at Madre Meharban Stadium here today.
DDC took the salute at the march-past, presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, PTS Manigam, Home Guards, besides, school children from various educational institutions presented scintillating and colorful cultural items including traditional folk and patriotic songs.
In his address, while congratulating the people of Ganderbal, DDC lauded the importance of Republic Day celebration and highlighted the various developmental achievements registered by district administration in the district including education, sports, Public Works and health sector as on 70th Republic Day.
Highlighting the development in Health sector in the district, Dr. Singla said that under flagship programme ‘Ayushman Bharat’ around 31000 people of the district were provided Health Cards to provide them free medical facilities, 100 bedded MCH Hospital Kangan constructed at the cost of Rs 17.18 core is in its final stage of completion besides round the clock health facilities are provided in 14 NTPHCs in the district.
Highlighting the development in education sector in the district which is key to prosperity, Dr. Singla said under Education Assistance Scheme Rs 1.60 crore were given among 2139 beneficiaries and Rs 15.60 lakh were given among 34 beneficiaries to get admission in professional colleges besides 10,000 new admissions were done in 2018-19 by education department in the district.
Speaking about implementation and achievements in state and centrally sponsored welfare schemes, DDC said district Ganderbal has done remarkable work in implementation of schemes like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, skill development program for girls, Ayushman Bharat and Swatch Bharat Mission with respect to other districts of the state.
It is endeavor of district administration and departmental heads to facilitate all-round development of the district and to generate new avenues of employment. In this regard Rs 811 lakh under MGNREGA are expended in current fiscal and 3.82 lakh man working days were provided to 8727 workers of the district besides several developing projects including play grounds and indoor stadium Ganderbal are in execution, he added.
Dr. Singla said that The District Administration is working assiduously to ensure that the resources available are efficiently utilized to timely implement the various infrastructure and development projects and welfare programmes in district Ganderbal.
The function concluded with distribution of prizes among the parade contingents and students who secured the first, second and third position in their parade and cultural programme performances. Besides media persons were felicitated for their services.
Trophies and cash prizes were also distributed among students who showed remarkable performances in recently declared 10th/12th results by JKBOSE.
The event was witnessed by Principal District & Sessions Judge, Ganderbal, Mohammad Yousuf Wani, ADDC, Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, SSP, Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, ACD Ganderbal, Naseer Ahmad Wani, ACR, Ganderbal, CEO, Ganderbal, various other civil, police officers, heads of educational institutions, officials from the district administration, newly elected Sarpanchs, councilors, Panchs, besides a large number of locals also turned up to the venue to witness the march past parade.
Later, high tea was hosted by the district administration at the Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat where the newly elected Panchs, Sarpanchs, Councilors held one-on-one interaction with the administration.
Locals appreciated the district administration for working tirelessly for the development of the district. Many locals were seen taking ‘selfie’ with DC and SSP G’bal which shows the level of trust and affection being reposed in the administration by public.
