Congress Leader asks Govt to ensure uninterrupted supply of power in Ganderbal District
Increase supply of Transformer Spare Parts to SSI Repairing Unit Ganderbal
GANDERBAL: Senior Congress Leader President District Congress Committee Ganderbal Saahil Farooq Ahmad today urged the Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu led administration to ensure all basic amenities especially ration, water and power supply to the people of Ganderbal as Ganderbalties suffer during holy month of Ramadan due to frequent power cuts.
In a Press Statement DCC President emphasizing on the need for stable electricity supply to the people during the pious month,Saahil Farooq said the Government should address the genuine demands of people and repairing damaged transformers of Ganderbal Phaak,Kangan,Lar, Wakura ,Sharpathri and Gund areas.
“With hundreds of transformers developing snag due to overloading and other issues, there is severe power shortage across Ganderbal areas during iftaar and Sehri time and it seems that the authorities at the helm of affairs have developed a cold shoulder approach to deal with the crisis,” Saahil Farooq observed.
Congress Leader said the SSI Repairing Unit Ganderbal have shortage of Spare Parts, Copper wire bands, jumpers, transformer Oil which added more time consuming in repairing damaged transformers because of the lackadaisical approach of the Government which has led to sever power shortage in a vast majority of Ganderbal District their is need to provide essential electrical supplies to Ganderbal SSi Repairing unit with this PDD may restore damaged transformers as early as possible .
“The prevailing dismal power situation is mostly because of delay in restoration of damaged transformers caused by the shortage of electrical parts The Govt. should immediately order special transportation supplying to these repairing Centers so that transformers should be repair timely in view of the holy month of Ramadan,” he demanded.
Saahil Farooq urged the Government to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during evening and early morning hours across the Ganderbal District so that people don’t face any difficulty. “Besides creating a buffer stock of transformers, the Government should also order installation of new and replacement of decaying electric poles, worn out electric wires and fulfill other infrastructural needs of power department for smooth power supply to the people,”
Congress Leader also asked the administration to ensure price stability of essential items which are reportedly being sold to the consumers on exorbitant rates due to COVID-19 lockdown.
