Commando 3: Vidyut Jammwal’s entry shows wrestler pulling up a schoolgirl’s skirt. Internet is disgusted
Vidyut Jammwal’s introductory teaser from his upcoming film Commando 3, which released on Tuesday, has landed in a controversy. The five-minute video opens with a disturbing scene of a wrestler misbehaving with – molesting, actually – a schoolgirl, and the internet is furious to say the least.
The scene in particular features two schoolgirls, who narrate their plight while explaining that the wrestlers of Samrat Akhada often tease them about the length of their skirts. The akhada is located right beside their school in Delhi.
The wrestlers pass comments and also pull their skirts, the girls say, adding that a student’s father was beaten up after he complained about it. The girls, hence, turn to social media for help. Sharing their story, the girls shoot a video and ask netizens to help make their video go viral.
This move, needless to mention, angers the wrestlers as one of them walks up to the girls and threatens them with dire consequences. She begins weeping profusely as the wrestler lifts her skirt in a scene that is nothing short of appalling to the core.
Enter, Vidyut Jammwal. Within a second, Vidyut hits the wrestler with a huge dumbbell and he falls to the ground. Of course, Vidyut also thrashes the other wrestlers in the akhada as people cheer for him. Mind you, those very people, who didn’t even dare to protest against the wrestler while he was molesting the girl.
Meanwhile, netizens are enraged and have posted angry opinions in the comments section on YouTube. Several quarters said that wrestlers “respect women” and this particular depiction is against their character.
Don’t bring kushti into this….pahalwans never do these kind of things,” a user said, adding that Commando 3 should be “boycotted”. Another user said, “Demeaning a whole creed of people just because you want to wrap a story around it is so bad!”
“To get publicity, showing child nudity is not right,” a viewer said, while another added, “Don’t defame our wrestlers just for promoting the script of your movie. This is disgusting to watch.”
Speaking about the introductory scene after its release, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah had explained it as a “bold step”.
“Innovation is the key to reach out today to the audience, we have decided to take a bold step to put out a 5-minute clip of the film as it is. It is a gamble, but it’s our belief that after watching this clip, audience will be compelled to see the film. Fingers crossed,” Vipul said, news agency IANS reports.
Directed by Aditya Datt, Commando 3 co-stars Adah Sharma, Angira Dhar and Gulshan Devaiah. It will release on November 29.
