GANDERBAL: Residents of Gagangir village in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday staged protest against PDD for not providing proper electricity to them.
Hundreds of inhabitants of Gagangir Gund staged a massive protest and blocked Srinagar-Leh highway at Gagangir due to which hundreds of vehicles including tourists and Army Convey were seen stranded on the busy highway.
The protesters chanted slogans against the concerned authorities for not providing them proper power supply even in the ongoing holy Month of Ramazan.
“It is unfortunate that even in this holy month there are unscheduled power cuts at Sehri and Iftar time,” said a protester adding “despite repeated visits to higher officials nothing has been done so far.”
Protesters alleged that their area is still supplied power as per the winter schedule and power development department had failed to ensure proper power supply to them
Later, SHO Police Station Gund Syed Arif Bukhari reached the spot and assured the protesters to take up their issue with concerned officials.
