Ailing wife seeks release of Hurriyat (G) leader Ayaz Akbar from Tihar jail
The ailing wife of Hurriyat (G) leader and spokesman Ayaz Akbar has sought his release from Tihar jail where he is undergoing detention from past eleven months.
His wife Rafeeqa Begum, who is suffering from cancer, has appealed for the release of Akbar who was arrested on July 24 last year by the National Investigation Agency.
Akbar, she said, was suffering from multiple ailments and was denied medical aid in the jail. “We are facing many issues because of his absence,” she said.
His elder son, Sarwar Yaqoob Khanday, expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of his father.
He appealed to the international human rights bodies, including Amnesty International, to look into the issue and help them in releasing his father from detention.
