SRINAGAR: Train service was suspended on Srinagar-Banihal track again on Thursday, a day after its restoration after four days.
There will be no train service on Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region track today for security reasons, Chief Controller Northern Railway told a news agency.
He said the decision to suspend all train runs on this track was taken in view of killing of district commander of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) Ayub Lalihari in an encounter with government forces in Pulwama yesterday.
The killing triggered massive protests in the south Kashmir.
Train service on Srinagar-Banihal track was resumed only yesterday after remaining suspended for four days following the killing of three Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants and two army men on August 13 in Shopian.
