SRINAGAR: Seven days long “Khush Khat”, Islamic Calligraphy event starts in Islamic Cultural Centre, Jamai Masjid, Downtown Srinagar from today.
An NGO and government bodies have come together to promote, exhibit and train the enthusiasts in the art that combines words with various geometrical shapes.
INTACH, Department of Tourism, Skill Pro Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages came together at the gate of historic Jamia Masjid, an area which represent the zenith of Kashmiri calligraphy.
Tourist Department provided a big hall, INTACH provided the road map and resources, and JKAACL provided skilled teachers of calligraphy and thus came into being Islamic Cultural Centre (ICC).
The entry free to event was open to the public and is aimed to celebrate the spirit of Shehar-e-Khaas and Islamic calligraphy in Kashmir Valley.
According to the organizers this event will continue for seven days.
